This course is somewhere between an art and a science. The statistical theory, which relates particularly to estimation and inference, is driven by the underlying assumption of normality , and depends on methodologies such as linear modelling and analysis of variance , which will be examined in some detail. Quite a lot of design theory is combinatoric , i.e. it relates to the arrangement of sequences within constrained spaces.
